Coconut Oil is one of the best oils for creating strong marijuana infusions. The high saturated fat content makes coconut oil capable of absorbing more THC, terpenes, flavinoids, and cannabinoids. Aside from cooking up new infused dishes, cannabis-infused coconut oil can also be used to make your own salve or bath soak. Recipes for those coming soon. This 4-step recipe is so easy anyone can make their own infused oil at home with just a few ingredients! If you give it a try, tag us in a photo and let us know what you create.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup ground cannabis flower (adjust according to desired potency)

  • 1 cup of coconut oil

  • Thermometer

  • Hand grinder

  • Crock-pot

  • Cheesecloth or strainer

  • Bowl or large measuring cup

  • Tamper-proof container to store your finished oil

Instructions

1. Grind your cannabis. You can include the entire plant, just the flower, or a little bit of both — it’s all a matter of preference. Just make sure you don’t grind the cannabis into a fine powder, or it will go right through your cheesecloth or strainer. 2. Combine the coconut oil and cannabis in your crock-pot then heat the two together on the lowest setting for 2 hours. This allows for decarboxylation (activation of THC) without scorching. Cook on low for an additional 4 hours, stirring occasionally. To avoid burning, add a small amount of water to the mixture.

Note: The temperature of the oil should not exceed 245° F.

3. Strain the oil through the strainer or cheesecloth into your tamper-proof container. Don’t squeeze the cheesecloth as this simply adds more chlorophyll to your oil. 4. Discard the remaining plant matter and find a safe, secure place to store your newly infused oil.

*Cannabis infusions vary in potency. Adhere to the industry motto, “start low and go slow”. Consider your tolerance and experience before consuming any cannabis product.
